Sonava Tadao, MEd Candidate

Sonava Tadao (Nava) is a graduate student in Counselling Psychology at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. She completed a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Sociology at Okayama University in Japan, where she worked as an adminsitrative assistant and supported the annual publication of her department’s literary journal. 

Alongside her graduate studies, Nava serves at the Hospital for Sick Children in the Child Life and Psychology Departments, providing thoughtful support to patients and families affected by childhood illness. Her interdisciplinary background in sociology and psychology informs her understanding of health and well-being. Across her academic, clinical, and community work, she integrates mindfulness and compassion as essential foundations for a reflective mental health care.

Committed to service excellence and integrity, Nava serves as Director of Communications at Mindfulness Toronto. In this role, she stewards the community’s digital presence, visual identity, and creative strategy, ensuring communications are clear, thoughtful, accessible, and supportive of a thriving mindfulness professional community.
