Sonava Tadao, MEd Candidate
Sonava Tadao (Nava) is a graduate student in Counselling Psychology at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Okayama University in Japan, where she worked as a crisis line counsellor supporting the mental health needs of Japan’s international community. Her interdisciplinary training, spanning sociological insight and psychological science, informs her practice and understanding of health and well-being.
Alongside her graduate studies, Nava serves at the Hospital for Sick Children in the Child Life and Psychology Departments, offering compassionate and relational care to patients and families. Across her academic, clinical, and community work, she integrates mindfulness and compassion as essential foundations for ethical, reflective mental health practice.
Committed to service excellence and integrity, Nava serves as Director of Communications & Creative Strategy at Mindfulness Toronto. In this role, she stewards the community’s digital presence, visual identity, and creative strategy, ensuring communications are clear, thoughtful, accessible, and supportive of a thriving mindfulness professional community.
