Kareena Gurbaxani Joshi, BSc, RYT-200

Kareena Gurbaxani Joshi is a mindfulness practitioner, yoga teacher, and program development and evaluation specialist with a multidisciplinary background in healthcare, Indigenous wellness, and land-based healing. She began her career at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, where she led and contributed to a comprehensive research portfolio focused on program development and evaluation of mindfulness-based, trauma-informed, and community-based service models to support mental health. Her contemplative training includes co-facilitation of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy at Sinai Health System and 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, with a focus on pranayama, vinyasa sequencing, and meditative practice grounded in traditional philosophy.

Her work emphasizes inclusive, culturally responsive, and evidence-informed approaches to well-being. In the Yukon, as a Land-Based Healing Team Lead, she has managed and supported over $7 million in funding across more than 100 First Nations-led programs and initiatives, to build capacity while strengthening culturally grounded, community-led approaches to land-based and preventative wellness.

Committed to service, connection, and collaboration, Kareena serves as Director of Programs at Mindfulness Toronto, leading the coordination and development of programs and services that reflect the community’s values of integrity, compassion, and wisdom, while responding to the evolving needs of the professional network.
